Hello! I am Tanja Buzzi Moriarty. My first name is pronounced “Tann ya.” Think suntan, Tanja, not Tahn-ya lasagna!

A million years ago, I earned a communications degree from Southern Connecticut State University, focusing on journalism. I’ve worked for several years as a reporter for the Middletown Press, and a freelance writer for small publications and newsletters. I was publicity coordinator at a private high school, and served two terms as Selectwoman in the Town of Haddam.

For a regular paycheck, I work as a grant writer for St. Vincent De Paul Middletown.

I’m a Connecticut native. I live, love and do fun things with my husband Sean. We are beyond blessed to have of two, well-adjusted adult children.

I’ve been on a faith journey throughout my entire life. I grew up going to church, rebelled, and then hit some major life situations in which I needed to have faith to hang on.

There was a miscarriage, then my husband was away serving in Desert Storm while I was carrying our first child. I was a police-wife during Sean’s 32-year-career as a municipal police officer. Faith kept me strong when my homeless father needed shelter and I know we were granted phenomenal healing as he lived well the last 14 years of his life—housed and with friends!

My daughter had a scary car accident. We endured serious marital challenges and came out stronger, thanks be to God! I overcame childhood baggage and lingering adult issues through years of weekly therapy with a psychologist who was also an earth angel. I don’t know if you ever get over being part of an adult child of an alcoholic family, but faith is keeping me on track to heal and love, even when it’s still a challenge.

Sean and I were also miraculously spared in a motorcycle accident. I somehow walked away with scratches, while Sean broke his neck in five places.

Through many toils and snares, prayer, praise and wonder, I continue to be amazed, calmed and steadied by our merciful God.

Oh, yeah. I also love to travel, camp, bake, laugh hard and seek my ancestral history.
